Keyboard Conventions


What you need to know
  There is an insertion point in every document.  It is usually represented by a flashing vertical line in the workspace of your word processor.  Wherever that flashing line is, that is your physical location and the text is placed at that point and moves across the page to the right. 
You can only move within a document, after you have entered text. 
It should be noted, newer versions of word processors will insert a multitude of line feeds and tabs if you accidentally click at a blank part of the document.
There are three modifier keys - .
These keys are used in conjunction with letters or movement keys.

When these keys are used, hold down the command key(s) first, then tap the corresponding letter or movement key. 
Release all keys once the action has been performed.
